Help From Our Friends

Volunteers from the Crown Point Fire Department took time out from their personal time off and helped collect food and other needed items for the Center Townshp Food Pantry.  Pictured are the great men whom delivered the items.  Left to right (front row) is Mark Reed and Scott Abraham.  Middle row is Brad Allen, Mike Kowal and Mark Baumgardner Sr..  Back row is Roland "Bub" Wise and Trustee Eldon Strong.   Every holiday season the fire department has a collection day for us and other community organizations and they were there for us again this 2011 season.   We all thank them for it.

Two townships received complete heat & serve Christmas dinners from Jewel-Osco for the 2011 Season. Money was collected at the registers to pay for these dinners. Jewel-Osco has been doing this program several years for the area Trustees. Assistant Branch Manager Sue Kaemerer of the Horizon Bank in Crown Point presented Center Township Trustee Eldon Strong, during the 2011 holiday season, with check for a thousand dollars for the townships Holiday Relief Fund.  Thank you Sue and Horizon Bank for the wonderful work you do for our community.

In December of 2011,  Dan Chesner from the Cedar Lake Fraternal Order of Eagles donated a check to Trustee Strong in the amount of $200.00 from the Eagles to go towards the Center Township Holiday Relief Fund.  Thank you Dan and the Cedar Lake Eagles for all of the woderful community service work they do.

Thanksgiving Dinners for the 2011 Holiday are picked up at the Crown Point Jewel Food store and then provided to some township residents.  Left to right is Winfield Township Trustee Rollie Brauer, Donna Hires (Jewel Scan Coordinator), Angie Sowa (Osco Asst. St. Marys Church donated a truck load of needed items for the Center Township Food Pantry from the 2011 Church Food Drive.  In the photo left to right is Trustee Eldon Strong with the St. Marys Parishioners whom delivered the items to the Center Township Food Pantry, Jan Conlon, Anita Eshelman and BIll Eshelman.  Thank you St. Marys for all of your continued help for us.     

Horizon Bank Assistant Branch Manager presented the Trustees Office with a $1000.00 for the Township Food Pantry/Holiday Relief Fund.  Thank you Horizon Bank.

The Trustee staff is shown with the proceeds from the 2003 Holiday Food & Toy Drive. It was a great succes but could have be done without you. A huge thanks to those who donated and those who helped by being collection points. American Legion Post 20, Bronkos Restaurant, Cedar Lake Dollar General, Cedar Lake Town Hall, Crown Point Clerk-Treasurers Office, Crown Point Fire. Department, Frickes Athletic Club, Strack & Van Til Grocery Store and Twelve Islands Restaurant.

A Holiday Food & Paper Products Drive could not have been done with the help of just a few good friends of the Trustee Office. Here are some friends from the Crown Point Fire Department and the Crown Point Fire Department Ladies Auxillary. They stood out at local grocery stores and collected for the Center Township Food Pantry during the 2006 Holidays.

Every year the members of the Crown Point Fire Department along with the members of the Ladies Auxiliary collect non perishable food items and paper goods for the Center Township Food Pantry. Without the help of these terrific friends and some other wonderful organizations the help too, the food pantry could not exist. Thanks to all of them.

In the late spring of of 2008, the Tri Kappa-gamma Theta Chapter held a food drive for the Food Pantry. Delivering the packages to the pantry are Tammy Lambert (shaking hands with Trustee Strong) and Lois Briggs.

During the 2008 Thanksgiving Holiday, Jewel-Osco collected enough money to purchase twenty-seven complete heat and serve dinners to those in need.
